Karen Haines, J.D.
Karen joined the firm in 2009. Karen, an attorney, works as a consultant assisting employers and their legal counsel with human resource management issues. She assists employers with responses to charges of unlawful discrimination by the EEOC and state human rights agencies. She interfaces with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, EEOC, for employers. She investigates claims and prepares the official responses to charges of discrimination including race, sex, age, national origin, religion, and disability.
Karen conducts workplace conduct investigations, including unlawful harassment and client rights violation investigations. She teaches unlawful harassment avoidance to management and staff employees. Her background and experience in law enforcement as a deputy sheriff, Assistant District Attorney, Staff Attorney for a Department of Family and Children Services, and Human Resources Director enables her to consult with and teach employee groups with difficult and complex relationship issues often found in police and sheriff departments, emergency medical services, fire, and corrections.
